Webinar Recap: Engaging Employees in Food Waste Reduction

A Walkthrough of Our Open-Source Employee Engagement Toolkit

June 6, 2025

On June 5, 2025, the U.S. Food Waste Pact and the Pacific Coast Food Waste Commitment (PCFWC) hosted a joint webinar that walked attendees through the new Employee Engagement Toolkit. The event, presented by leaders from ReFED, World Wildlife Fund (WWF), and TripleWin Advisory, gave a history of employee engagement intervention projects from both initiatives and provided attendees with a step-by-step guide to using the toolkit.

Since 2022, the PCFWC has led three successful employee engagement pilots in the manufacturing sector. The first at Bob’s Red Mill resulted in a food waste reduction of over 70% of a particular product, and subsequent projects with Land O’Lakes and Fresh Del Monte showed similar results. After these successful pilots, ReFED, WWF, and TripleWin Advisory collaborated to create the Employee Engagement Toolkit, an open-source resource that allows any food business to implement and execute an employee engagement program. The webinar explored the resources within the toolkit, breaking down each asset and its use case. The session closed out with a Q&A, which covered more in-depth questions about the toolkit’s applications.
