Aramark

Foodservice

One of the nation’s largest foodservice companies with locations across the U.S., Aramark has made tackling food waste a priority, with a goal of reducing food loss and waste by 50% by 2030 against a 2015 baseline.

Food Waste Reduction Strategies

  • Educating employees across the organization about food waste prevention through learning modules and hands on training that support analysis of production and service results to better inform future planning and forecasting.

  • Using technology-based waste tracking solutions like Leanpath, Topanga’s StreamLine and Aramark’s proprietary app ENABLE+ to quantify pre-consumer waste and support operators in making informed decisions to prevent and reduce food waste.

  • Partnering with Food Donation Connection, the Food Recovery Network, Goodr, and other approved local recovery agencies to redirect surplus food to support the communities we operate in.

  • Instituting a variety of other waste-reduction initiatives—utilizing upcycled ingredients, trayless dining, post-consumer “Weigh the Waste” events, improved signage, plate waste studies, and operational sustainability trainings, to name a few.
