Food Waste Reduction Strategies

  • Donated 39 million pounds of food from stores and warehouses to donation partners.

  • Diverted over 2,000 tons of food to compost and anaerobic digestion.

  • Continued to enhance pricing and markdown tools to help prevent food from becoming waste.

  • Diverted 76% of waste in operations across the entire company

  • Recycled or reused over 382,000 tons of cardboard, wood pallets and plastic film—the weight equivalent to over 85,000 forklifts!

  • Eliminated plastic shopping bags at check out from all U.S. stores.
