CAVA is committed to reducing food waste and feeding communities in need. Since 2022, they have donated $1.2 million to organizations through foods and funds.

Food Waste Reduction Strategies

  • Donating nearly 43 thousand meals to communities in need in 2024 through their unique food donation program, which donates food made during training periods at new locations to local food banks.

  • Limiting food prep to only what is needed through CAVA's "Thoughtful Cooking" approach.

  • Piloting new waste stations for guests to use in-restaurant that are modular and can provide trash, recycling, and compost containers as needed, based on the local services accessible.

  • Testing advanced camera vision and generative AI to better forecast demand, monitor ingredient usage, and optimize prep in real-time, helping reduce food waste across restaurant operations.

  • Partnering with solution provider Too Good To Go (TGTG) to repurpose surplus food into community-impact dollars—the equivalent of 77,360 meals were saved from surplus food in 2024 through this partnership.
