Chick-fil-A

QSR

The Pact’s first quick-service restaurant signatory, Chick-fil-A is leading the food waste reduction effort in their sector with a goal to divert 25 million pounds of food waste from landfills by 2025. As of 2023, they are 94% of the way there, having diverted approximately 23.6 million pounds of food from landfill.

Food Waste Reduction Strategies

  • Food waste prevention through a “cook less, more often” approach.

  • Donating surplus food to local food recovery organizations through the Chick-fil-A Shared Table® program.

  • Supporting food recovery infrastructure by donating $25,000 to Feeding America (U.S.) or Second Harvest (Canada) with each new restaurant opening.

  • Expanding composting programs in restaurants and strengthening diversion infrastructure through industry collaboration.
