  • Prevention first. Schreiber is focused on preventing waste before it happens. Their priority is to eliminate waste at the source by improving production planning, yield optimization, and process controls at their facilities.

  • Product recovery and reuse. When waste can’t be prevented, they're focused on recovering usable product through rework, repurposing, or ingredient valorization—keeping edible food in the human food supply wherever possible.

  • Preferred diversion pathways. For unavoidable biodegradable materials, they apply a waste hierarchy that prioritizes:

    • People first

    • Animal feed

    • Beneficial reuse or resource recovery

    • Composting or anaerobic digestion

    • Landfill only as a last resort
